Lima 2019 presents competition schedule and venue map

Citizens Voice Tv (Lima)  Lima 2019 has released its highly anticipated competition schedule and venue map, with this summer’s Pan American and Parapan American Games set to feature an unprecedented 23 Olympic Games qualifiers and 14 Paralympic Games qualifiers for Tokyo 2020.

Lima 2019’s full Pan American Games competition schedule presents the 62 disciplines across 39 sports unfolding from July 24 – August 11, 2019. The Pan American Games will feature a record 23 disciplines offering Olympic qualification, ensuring world-class competition as the Americas’ finest seek to book their ticket to Tokyo 2020. The Olympic qualifiers are: archery, artistic swimming, athletics, badminton, equestrian (dressage, eventing and jumping), diving, field hockey, handball, karate (kata and kumite), modern pentathlon, sailing, shooting, skateboarding, surfing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, water polo and weightlifting.

Lima 2019 President Carlos Neuhaus stated: “With just under 100 days to go, Lima’s attention is turning from the hugely successful work of preparing venues and readying the city, towards the wonderful sport that is now just around the corner. The images of completed venues are what enable the best athletes in the Americas to visualize where their performances will be. The competition schedule now allows them to also prepare for when. And this schedule means the tens of thousands of spectators who have been waiting patiently to plan their own experiences of Lima 2019 can now make their own preparations, ready for when tickets go on sale at the end of May.”

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games Opening Ceremony will take place on July 26, at the National Stadium. Competition begins two days earlier, on July 24, with women’s handball at the Videna Sports Complex. Four more sports will begin competition the following day, on July 25: beach volleyball at the Costa Verde of San Miguel, squash at the Videna Sports Complex, bowling at the Videna Bowling Center and men’s softball at the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Complex.

The Lima 2019 Parapan American Games competition schedule presents 18 disciplines across 17 sports between August 23 and September 1, 2019. Fourteen disciplines will offer Paralympic qualification for Tokyo 2020, another record.The Lima 2019 Parapan American Games Opening Ceremony will take place on August 23, at the National Stadium. Competition begins one day earlier, on August 22, with Para table tennis at the Videna Sports Complex, one of the new accessible facilities prepared for the 1,850 Para athletes competing at Lima 2019.

Lima 2019 organizers have also released a map of Games venues, including 20 new and upgraded facilities located throughout Lima, Callao, Vegueta and Paracas. With infrastructure projects in Lima more than 90 percent complete, Lima 2019 is finalizing its preparations to welcome athletes, officials and fans to Peru from 41 countries for the Pan American Games and from 33 countries for the Parapan American Games.
